Maximizing efficient, high quality COVID-19 screenings (April 26, 2021)

Identifying the most appropriate COVID-19 testing codes, testing sites and type of test to use can be confusing. The guidance here can make it easier for you to refer your patients to high-quality, lower-cost COVID-19 testing sites, find Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid (Anthem)-contracted laboratories and identify the proper CPT® codes to use.

Prior Authorization Guidance – Effective 2/1/2021 (January 15, 2021)

Prior authorization (PA) requests are removed for all inpatient Medicaid services provided by Kentucky Medicaid enrolled inpatient hospitals (Provider Type 01), as well as all Medicaid covered substance use and behavioral health services. For MCOs, this includes both participating and non-participating providers.

Prior authorization guidance during COVID-19 crisis (December 17, 2020)

In accordance with guidance issued by the Department for Medicaid Services (DMS), effective November 17, 2020, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid prior authorization requirements have been removed for all Medicaid services for all Anthem enrolled providers, except pharmacy (including physician administered drugs). This prior authorization waiver will extend through January 31, 2021.

Medicaid & CHIP Provider Relief Fund Update (July 22, 2020)

CMS has recently announced HHS’ extension of the deadline for qualifying Medicaid & CHIP providers to apply for the Medicaid & CHIP Provider Relief Fund distribution. The new deadline is August 3, 2020. CMS has been in continuous discussions with our partners at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) about the status of applications for this distribution. This email is intended to provide you with an update on the number of providers from your state that have applied.

Department of Health and Human Services announces additional distributions from the Provider Relief Fund to eligible Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program providers (June 12, 2020)

On June 9, 2020, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), announced additional distributions from the Provider Relief Fund to eligible Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) providers that participate in state Medicaid and CHIP programs. HHS is also announcing an additional distribution of Provider Relief Funds to safety net hospitals.

Federal resources available for health care providers and employers in the federal CARES Act

Anthem, Inc. advocated for Congress to provide sufficient funding for hospitals to be able to address those in need of care, and we strongly support federal and state efforts to address the financial needs of care providers. To help care providers navigate the resources available to them, we complied information on programs that could deliver additional financial relief during this crisis.

New value-added benefit: LiveHealth Online effective April 1, 2020

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, effective April 1, 2020, LiveHealth Online* (LHO) is now available to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid (Anthem) members as a value-added benefit (VAB) ahead of the full implementation scheduled for May 15, 2020.

COVID-19 Guidance (March 23, 2020)

In accordance with guidance issued by the Department for Medicaid Services (DMS), Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid (Anthem) is issuing the following guidance to providers specific to COVID-19 testing and treatment policies.
